Theyskens Theory

Theyskens Theory Spring 2011

Theyskens Theory Fall/ Winter 2011

I'd have to say my favourite designer at the moment is Olivier Theyskens for the Theory Brand. He started out with launching his own label in 1997. The Belgian born designer was previously the Artistic Director at Nina Ricci for about 4 years. He then joined with Andrew Rose, who is the co-founder and CEO of the theory brand to create the Theyskens Theory brand in 2010. Later in 2010, Olivier became the Head Designer of the collections and the Artistic Director for the Theory brand.

I personally think the Theory brand has taken a excellent route with Olivier and the designs are effortless and modern. Both Spring and FW collections are amazing. This spring collection doesn't have much colour. Most spring collections out now have a lot of colour or have pale colours like beiges and pinks. The clothes are very feminine, but have that edge that I like. Picture 1 has wide legged black pants, with pleats, WHAT? YES YES YES. Picture 4, the black dress with the front mini pockets are so cool, and the last picture has The Electric Blue Velvet shoes. I am not that big on velvet, but Theyskens Theory make it wearable . So many different styles to choose from for Spring.

The FW 2011 was another banger for Olivier. A lot of the same type of clothes from the previous spring collection. For example, wide legged pants, straight pants, velvet shoes, etc. But there a lot of different cuts, especially in the pants. There is a lot of denim and maxi-coats, with large sweeping backs and plaid ( but I didn't post any clothes with plaid). The fall collection has a lot of inspiration from the gothic times, with the prints being inspired from cathedral buildings. This collection also had no sketches or drawings!! Picture 3 is my favourite. The black gothic see-through mesh dress is stunning, its long but still brings that edge. Theyskens Theory is the new favourite!! European to American designing.
